Q |
I've just downloaded a newer version. Can I just install it "over the top" of my existing version. Will it know I am registered? |
A |
Yes you can install it over the top of your existing version. If you already have a licensed version your licenses will remain valid. |

Q |
I've used WinAlign on Win98 to align programs on my hard drive to 4K boundaries (somebody said it would make the performance better) and now I'm getting a message saying the program has been modified and it won't run. What can I do? |
A |
Put the original unaligned version back. WinAlign modifies the program file. You cannot use WinAlign on every program, some will break, and Smart Accounts 2000 is one of them. |
Q |
I've lost the top of the account Window, or the bottom, or I can't see one of my open accounts or similar Window related problems. |
A |
Try using the "Cascade" option of the "Window" menu command, which will rearrange the windows on screen. |
Q |
Where is the "Save" option on the File Menu? |
A |
There isn't one. When you created your portfolio of accounts you specified a File Name, and Smart Accounts automatically saves your data with no further action required from you. More accurately, each individual account is saved within the Portfolio file when the individual account window is closed. Closing Smart Accounts itself, or using the File/Close menu command or toolbar button to close the current portfolio causes all the individual account windows to be closed and saved in the process. |
Q |
How do I change the width of the columns used by the display? |
A |
Grab the divider between the column headings and drag it to where you want it.(Move the mouse pointer over it until it changes to a vertical beam with left and right arrows, then hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse left ot right). |
Q |
How do I open an archived portfolio? |
A |
Archived Portfolios have a file extension of .saa. You open them in the same way as you would an ordinary portfolio, using File/Open, but you must then select "Smart Accounts Archive" from the drop down list of file types at the bottom of the File Open dialog. |
Q |
How do I select categories? |
A |
You select categories from a drop-down selection list tha appears in various parts of the program. Simply double-click on the category you want. |
