Managing your Contacts

Use X2Net Contacts to store the names, phone numbers, and addresses of everyone you know or need to contact. You can also store related information about your contacts, including notes and important dates (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).

You can even import your contact lists from other programs, such as Microsoft Outlook.

In order to support both novice users and more advanced users, X2Net Contacts provides two types of User Interface; Simple View and Advanced View

Simple View

Simple View allows easy and simple access to all your contact information. Simply selecting a contact from the “My Contacts” Index List, the contact’s details are displayed in the contact card on the right side of the screen.

Updating these details is done by simply typing the required values into the appropriate fields on the contact card, with updates being automatically saved.

Most if the functionality of X2Net Contacts is available in Simple View, however if you wish to use Contact Folders to manage the storage of your contacts, or to use customized contact lists, you will need to switch to the Advanced View.

Switching between Simple and Advanced Views is as easy as clicking a menu option.

Advanced View

Advanced View provides access to the full functionality of X2Net Contacts and allows you to better manage your contacts, allowing you to store and display contacts based on physical folder structures. When in this mode, selecting a folder from the My Contacts Folder navigation list will display all contacts contained in that folder, in the contact display area on the right of the screen.

The contact display area allows you to view, edit, sort and group your contacts in different, customizable views. These views also allow you to chose the fields you want to display and the order to display them in.

To update a contact’s details, you can in most cases edit them directly within the contact display area, or the contact can be opened and edited from the Contact Card screen.

Sharing Contact Information with Others

X2Net Contacts as a true Client/Server application. Whilst it can provide Contact and Address Management for a single user on a single computer, it can also provide Contact Management across a home, company or corporate network, scaling from 1 user to 1,000's of users.

Utilizing a central X2Net Database Server (available free of charge), users can connect from their computers (using the X2Net Contacts Client) and share contact information across all users.  This allows shared management of contacts, ensuring all users have the information they need.

To support this multi-user environment, X2Net Contacts provides in-built security allowing access to the contact information to be controlled and limiting what individuals can do.

Functionality Includes: -

• Sharing of information allowing multiple users to read and update central contact information
• Quick access for users to shared contacts, using the "Shared Contacts" view in X2Net Contacts
• Secure user access and control
• Free of charge X2Net Server available, providing a low cost networked solution
