Managing your Calendar
Managing your calendars is easy in X2Net Calendar. When
first started, X2Net Calendar will automatically create your
own personal calendar, called My Calendar. You can
use this calendar to record all your calendar events.
If you want, you can
create other calendars; maybe to hold specific events in
their own calendars.
At anytime you can
chose which calendars you want opened and these calendars
will be displayed alongside each other presenting a single
"view" of your opened calendars. For an example
showing two calendars (My Calendar and Office
Calendar) open together, click

In
order to support easy navigation to different dates in your
opened calendars and to quickly open and close different
calendar,
X2Net Calendar provides two navigation views; Date
Navigation and Calendars

Date Navigation View
Date
Navigation
View allows easy and simple navigation through your opened
calendars. Simply, click on a date (or select a range of
dates) and all opened calendars will move to that date.
The calendar
selection area in the Date Navigation View is a dynamic
area, which means that it will display as many months within
its display area as it can. If the screenshot below, the
size only allows to months to be display (December and
January).
In addition, the
calendar selection area will indicate where the open
calendars have events recorded, by showing the day in the
month calendar in bold. This allows you to quickly see where
there are events and jump quickly to them by clicking on the
bold day number.
Switching between Date and Navigation View is simply a mater
of clicking the Calendars button below the Date
Navigation area.

Calendars View
The Calendars View allows quick access to open and close
calendars.
When a
calendar is opened, it will be displayed in X2Net Calendar
alongside all other opened calendars, allowing you to
quickly view multiple calendars.
The
Calendars View display area may be split into two areas;
My Calendars, listing calendars you created and have
recently opened and Shared Calendars, listing
calendars that have been created by other users and you have
recently opened. Calendars that you haven't recently opened,
can always be opened using the "Open a Calendar..." link at
the bottom of this area.
Removing the selection tick for any calendar, will close
that calendar, but leave it in the list for quick opening
later.
Once you have opened
the calendars you want, you can quickly switch back to the
Date Navigation View by clicking the Date Navigation
button below the Calendars area.

Sharing
Calendar Information
with Others
X2Net Calendar is a true Client/Server
application. Whilst it can provide Calendar and Diary
Management for a single user on a single computer, it can
also provide Calendar and Diary Management across a home, company or
corporate network, scaling from 1 user to 1,000's of users.
Utilizing a central X2Net Database
Server (available free of charge), users can connect from
their computers (using the X2Net Calendar Client) and share
calendar information across all users. This allows shared
access to calendars, ensuring all users can efficiently
access other peoples calendars and/or schedule access to
resources (e.g., rooms, equipment, etc.).
To support this multi-user environment,
X2Net Calendar provides in-built security allowing access to
the calendars to be controlled and limiting what
individuals can do. For example, you can allow other users
to read your calendar, but not to update it.
Functionality Includes: -
- Sharing of information allowing multiple users to
read and update shared calendar information
- Quick access to often used shared calendars, using
the Calendars view in X2Net Calendar
- Secure user access and control
- Free of charge X2Net Server available, providing
a low cost networked solution
