Security in X2Net BrowserPalX2Net BrowserPal ensures you data is safe and secure both from prying eyes and from accidental loss. The underlying data can optionally be encrypted; access to the data can be locked requiring a master password before it can be accessed; backup and restore of your data is built in; and you can always print a complete copy of your data to keep offline. If you select encryption your data is encrypted using the Rijndael Advanced Encryption Standard cipher with a 256 bit key. The RijnDael cipher is a US Federal Information Processing Standard, FIPS-197. Backup and restore is built in. You can back up manually using the Backup command from the File Menu. X2Net BrowserPal also automatically backs up your data once a day, and keeps the last five day's data on a rolling cycle. (Of course the automatic backup is to another file on your hard drive, so will not protect you from a complete drive failure and you will need to back up to a removable media to ensure complete protection). You can restore from the Restore command on the File Menu. Backup and Restore is also the simplest way of moving your data between machines. Backup simply takes a copy of your data file and compresses it using a standard Zip file to save space. |
